What is GCAS ?

Prognosis is the only comprehensive DP meter diagnostic system available. Prognosis is capable of real-time diagnostics and is extremely powerful in assuring good flow measurement and detecting issues with any standard DP Meter. Prognosis can be used as a basis for a Condition Based Maintenance strategy as encouraged by regulatory bodies world-wide.

How Does It Works ?
When GCAS is first installed it takes an accurate ‘footprint’ of your GC to use as a healthy set of reference conditions. Existing issues would be detected during this initial installation process.
Once the ‘footprint’ is set up GCAS will monitor calibration gas analysis data (Ideally via Modbus) to confirm accurate and error free performance. GCAS can analyze the GC calibration data automatically with no manual intervention required by the onsite technician.
GCAS captures response factor and retention time data following each calibration and plots correlation charts to illustrate the GCs currents performance. All Calibration data is historically stored and this can be referred to by the technician, operator and regulator for auditing and validation purposes.
GCAS can be installed by the end user and doesn’t require you to call out a GC specialist. GCAS is a windows application and is therefore compatible with most standard desktop and laptop PCs.
GCAS Determines:
- Stability of the GC from its reproducibility
- Uncertainty of the GC from reproducibility, calibration gas and (if multi-level calibration data available) linearity and repeatability
- How stable the gas is from monitoring of mole%?
- Closeness of calibration gas to process gas PLUS the best calibration gas composition for your process gas
- Any fault in procedure or genuine error or drift in GC
- Repeatability and reproducibility changes from the ‘healthy’ GC state

Prognosis
Prognosis is the world’s first and only diagnostics system for Differential Pressure Meters. The patented technology, proven to be extremely powerful both in theory and in practice, has been adopted by Operators world-wide. Prognosis provides real-time monitoring of meter performance and assurance of meter accuracy as well as instant alerts of meter performance shift and mismeasurement.
- By reading three Differential Pressures across the meter body, the self-diagnostic capabilities of any DP meter are realized
- The Prognosis system uses the three DP measurements as well as other process conditions and meter geometry to monitor the meter’s performance in real time
- The diagnostic results are represented as 4 points and a box. If the points remain inside the box, this ensures good flow measurement. If any of the points are outside of the box, there is reason to suspect a problem with the meter performance and an error in the reported flow rate prediction
- The Prognosis system will automatically indicate the NATURE of an issue based on the diagnostic response; in particular, a secondary DP instrumentation issue is distinguished from a primary meter body based physical problem
